At its nose, the round has an extended impact sensor. When the impact sensor collides with a target, it ignites an explosive, which melts surrounding copper. A shape charge liner concentrates the molten metal and hot gases into a narrow blast that cuts through the armor. The M1 also has three machine guns. An anti-materiel rifle ( AMR) is a rifle designed for use against military equipment, structures, and other hardware ( materiel) targets. Anti-materiel rifles are chambered in significantly larger calibers than conventional rifles and are employed to eliminate equipment such as engines and unarmored or lightly armored targets.
For other tanks the enhanced gun laying drive is useful for tanks with a 3 second or longer aim-time and/or a tank that cannot equip a vertical stabilizer. For tanks that have aim-times in the mid 2 second range or lower it is always better to use the vertical stabilizer over the enhanced gun laying drive.
